For television, the site will be turned into a show called The School Run, where old schoolmates will be reunited to compete in a trivia quiz. It will be shown on the new ITV Play channel, a Freeview channel that will be broadcast on the Internet from next month, and later on cable and satellite.
ITV paid £120mn for Friends Reunited late last year.
Other 'highlights' of the ITV Play schedule include a pub quiz filmed in Coronation Street's Rovers Return and the return of Bullseye, which will be the first of the channels games to crossover to the Internet. Play.itv.com will host an 'interactive' version that will include footage from the original eighties version.
Next month it will also be possible to play ITV Play games on a mobile phone.
Friends Reunited could well be the first instance of a website spawning a TV spin-off. If there are any others let us know via the Comments button below.
