Eudora returns - entirely free 10:53AM, Monday 10th September 2007
One of the most popular email programs of the early-1990s has returned, after its source code has been donated for all to share.

Qualcomm, the company that owned the software, stopped selling it in May and has made the code open source. It can now be downloaded for free and programmers can continue developing it.

The Mozilla Founcation, which develops free software including the Firefox web browser and the Thunderbird email program, has already started distributing a test version of Eudora. It claims that Eudora will not replace Thunderbird, but rather compliment it.

The Mozilla version of Eudora is code-named Penelope.
