AData's Solar Disk SR1 1GB USB flash drive has an LCD screen that displays the amount of free space available. Batteries aren't required to power the display thanks to a small solar panel.
The Solar Disk's speed when reading and writing large files is in line with what we'd expect, but it was very slow at writing small files. It isn't much more expensive than a standard drive, but the display is not that useful. It's also too slow for copying large numbers of small files.
To us, the solar part of the drive seems to be a gimmick and the screen, if there has to be one, would be better off being charged through a USB port. Our advice is to buy a standard drive instead and save a few quid.
