Product ReviewsRemovable Storage
Western Digital's MyBook 320GB is an attractive external hard disk. The case feels a bit cheap but, as the name suggests, it's about the size of a thick book. The Essential Edition we review here comes without any backup software, so you'll have to provide your own. You have the option of setting the whisper-quiet MyBook to power up and shut down in sync with your PC to save power. Its results in our large-files tests were consistent with those of other USB Hi-Speed hard disks, but performance in our small-files test was let down by poor writing times, so tasks such as backing up system files will be slow. We were impressed by the low cost per gigabyte of 38p. Despite the lack of backup software and poor performance with small files, the MyBook is great value. By Alan Lu SPECIFICATIONS:
