Rio has adapted the styling of its excellent Nitrus player for the 5GB Carbon. The attractive body is well protected by a rubber trim and metallic back plate. Despite its small size, the Carbon can play its supported MP3 or WMA files for around 20 hours. It produces rich and detailed sound through the supplied ear buds.

Its buttons are well placed and a corner-mounted clickable scroll wheel provides navigation and volume control. It's easy to select the track, album, artist or playlist you want. The unit connects directly to a computer via a USB Hi-Speed connection, so file transfer is quick and painless. The software is simple and effective for managing file transfers, CD ripping and playlist creation.
