Apple touts Parallels over Boot Camp
12:47PM, Monday 19th June 2006
Apple has begun recommending Parallels Workstation over its own Boot Camp for anyone wishing to run Windows on an Intel Mac.
Unlike the Apple software, Workstation lets users run Windows (and many other OSes) alongside Mac OS X.
Having previously touted Boot Camp, the Get A Mac section on Apple's website now recommends the alternative.
'Talk about a win-win situation,' it says. 'Now you can take advantage of all the benefits of owning a Mac but still enjoy the convenience of starting up your Mac in Windows XP and running a Windows-only game or productivity application when needed. Third-party software solutions such as Parallels Desktop for Mac help make it possible.'
Parallels Workstation was unveiled in April and released last week.
