Epson preps PictureMate for phone-based printing 11:10AM, Wednesday 31st March 2004
Epson has developed a Symbian-based application for printing direct from phone to printer via Bluetooth.

Developed alongside its PictureMate 6-colour photo printer, the application will support photos sent wirelessly from a range of Nokia camera phones that use the Symbian-based Series 60 platform.

The phone app will be available this spring as a free download from the Epson website.

The PictureMate printer costs £149.99 inc VAT and will be available in June. It features memory card slots to print direct from a card or to make back-ups and has a range of basic editing functions on-board. It can also hook up to a PC or Mac via USB.

It prints images up to 10x15cm and offers an optimised resolution of 5760x1440dpi. Epson claims the quality exceeds that of a photolab.
