AMD Unveils Odd Coloured Oval Computer 5:23PM, Wednesday 6th December 2000
AMD this week unveiled a range of "fashion PCs" designed to cash in on the current Apple-inspired vogue for curvy colourful computers.

The oval-shaped K6-2-powered "EasyNow" PCs will be available in a variety of different hues including purple and yellow, and will dispense with "legacy" technologies such as built-in floppy drives.

Like a rash of other "legacy free" PCs currently being rolled out by companies such as Compaq, HP and IBM, the EasyNow is pitched at the budget end of the market, with prices ranging from $499 to $699.

Although the computers have been designed by AMD, the company won't actually build or sell the machines. The designs will be licensed to PC manufacturers on the condition they use the K6-2 microprocessor inside.
