Microsoft had been ordered to issue licenses for software manufacturing rivals who want to write programs for Windows, and provide technical information about Windows to help these companies develop their programs. However, the US Justice department has now complained that Microsoft had taken too long to resolve technical document issues (TDIs).
According to company spokesperson David Bowermaster, there were 1,276 outstanding TDIs in the 20,000 page document. "We're doing our best to close them as fast as we identify them," he said. However, Jay Himes, chief of the New York attorney general's antitrust bureau, reckons each Microsoft employee working on the problems cleared just one per month. "It's clear that the TDIs are not declining," he said.
A full compliance hearing to resolve the issues has been scheduled to take place on September 25th 2008.
