Eee box expected in August 11:13AM, Friday 20th June 2008
Asus has confirmed it will be launching the Eee box - a low cost desktop PC, following the success of its Eee PC.

The Eee Box will be powered by the same Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz chip as the Eee PC, alongside just 1GB of DDR2 RAM and an 80GB hard disk. Asus is keen to tout its Express Gate fast-boot technology, claiming that users can easily access the internet or communicate over IM or Skype just seven seconds after boot up.

The PC will, at first, not come equipped with a monitor or any other peripherals. It will run on Windows XP, although Asus has hinted it may release a version that runs on Linux later down the line.

According to the company, the PC will be as "slim as a paperback novel" and "one litre" in size. It is expected to be on sale in the UK in August 2008, and speculation suggests it could retail for as little as £150.
