MySpace announces redesign 11:19AM, Friday 13th June 2008
Social networking site MySpace plans to launch a global redesign next week, as it sets out to broaden its appeal and boost user engagement on the site.

Taking effect on Wednesday 18th June, MySpace will be changing its home page, navigation, profile editing, search, and MySpaceTV player facilities. The revamp would mark be the largest scale re-launch of a website of its size, and many more changes will be coming over the summer.

"This is more than a facelift; we're changing the way people interact with the site and with brands," read a statement from MySpace.

MySpace will be using the Lucene Open-Source engine and community, marking the first time the networking site has contributed to the Open-Source community. MySpace added that had drastically overhauled the look and feel of its searches, which it claimed currently rank third in total number of searches by any site.
