Enter the SP-P400B which, with its 150 lumens, is three times brighter than the P300. Shopper got a sneak preview of the SP-P400 in action at Samsung's research and development centre in South Korea and, even in a well-lit room, the projector managed to throw approximately a 40in image that was clearly readable, with colours

The SP-P400B won't exactly fit in any of your pockets, but it's still very small - around the size of a pair of binoculars. It uses a DLP chip with a resolution of 800x600, and has a claimed contrast ratio of 1,000:1. Thanks to the LEDs, lamp life is rated at 20,000 hours - around ten times more than a standard projector bulb - and they're much less susceptible to damage. Another benefit is that they don't need as much cooling, and the fans were barely audible over the office's air conditioning.
Inputs include VGA, component (via a VGA adaptor) and composite, and there's a handy built-in speaker.
The SP-P400B will go on sale in the UK in early June. Pricing hasn't been decided, but we've been told that it should be between 499 and 599 Euros (roughly £300-£480). As always, we'll bring you an in-depth review when we get our hands on a final production model.
