[Printers]| Monday 28th April 2008 |
It's perfect if you want to print photos on the move. It takes two ink cartridges, one four-colour photographic cartridge, and an additional pigment black ink tank which allows it print sharp mono text on plain paper. A separate print head is designed to last the life of the printer but can be replaced if the nozzles become clogged.
It's an expensive buy for most home users, but perfect for keen photographers. It could even replace Polaroid's discontinued instant cameras for making preview prints during photo shoots. At maximum print quality, it printed a 6x4in photo in one minute and 38 seconds, which is rather slow, although lower quality settings produced fast print speeds.
With photo quality that rivals some of our favourite A4 photo printers and a battery that should be able to print around 290 pages on a single charge, the Pixma iP100 is in a different league to most compact photo printers. You can read our full review in Shopper 245.
