Google readying online storage offering 10:29AM, Tuesday 27th November 2007
Google's online storage service could be available in a few months, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.

The long rumoured service would allow users to store documents, MP3s, video clips and images on a Google server, then access them through any internet connection, simply by logging in to their Google account.

The plans would tie into Google's overall strategy of moving traditional desktop tasks online, as it has done with Google Docs.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Google will offer some free storage, with additional storage allotments available for a fee. Planned pricing isn't known.

A Google spokeswoman declined to comment on any specific online storage plans beyond what it already offers as part of its email and other services.

Microsoft already offers an online storage service called Skydrive, which grants 1GB of storage with a Live ID.
