X-Vision's XV300E camera looks unassuming in its silver case. It comes with an adjustable mount but no power adaptor. The camera is attached to 60cm of thick cable, so you can run this cable through an exterior wall and connect power and video cables inside.

The XV300E produced excellent results. Like several of the pricier cameras it tended to make brown shades, such as our thief's shirt, appear blue. It captured plenty of detail, though, including a good shot of our burglar's face. With the lights out it produced one of the brightest pictures, with a wide area of illumination. Our thief was clearly visible, even in the pitch black.

For £70 including VAT this is an extremely capable camera. You'll have to budget for a power adaptor and cable, but it's still great value.
