This is the lowest-priced speaker system here, a fact that's sadly reflected in its appearance. The satellites, wired remote and subwoofer all have a cheap plastic finish and a design that looks like it took five minutes to come up with. The connections are all sensibly located, with one mini-jack input on the subwoofer and a second on the wired remote alongside a headphone-out, volume and power controls. However, the 1.6m cables from the subwoofer to the satellites and the 1.3m captive power cable could prove frustratingly short.
There are no tone controls, which is worrying on a subwoofer-based system. The bass level was about right in our test lab, but this can vary depending on where the subwoofer is placed. Bass was tight and punchy, but not particularly deep. Middle frequencies were muddy and high frequencies were weak. None of these problems is severe, but overall this set is bottom of the group for sound quality.
