While impressive, LG's 24in L245WP just misses out on an award. It's a similar price to ViewSonic's VX2435wm, but a side-by-side comparison shows that it can't compete for brightness. It's nowhere near as dim as Iiyama's 24in screen, but its colours lack vibrancy.
You should connect the screen to your PC using its digital HDMI port, as setting up the analogue connection with the monitor's awkward menu system is difficult. Image quality is good, and the Windows desktop was extremely clear and sharp. Our test photos showed tremendous detail, although the darkest greys tended to blend into each other, which made for slightly murky shadows.
This Flatron has some advantages over ViewSonic's 24in monitor. The stand is fully adjustable, and there's a two-port USB hub just behind the left edge of the screen. The screen has no integrated speakers, though.
LG's Flatron L245WP is a good all-round monitor, but ViewSonic's VX2435wm is cheaper and has better image quality.
