LabsLCD monitors
We have both ridiculously cheap and ludicrously expensive 24in displays in this round-up. ViewSonic's VX2435wm is the perfect compromise. It's stylishly glossy, with a black and silver design, and it has one of the best sets of integrated speakers here. Removing the large rear panel reveals a staggering array of connections. HDMI, VGA, component, composite and S-video all sit on either side of the central column. Once the rear panel is back on, it acts as a great cable-tidy. The screen needed little setting up, with very bright images out of the box and a more natural colour tone than any screen here apart from Samsung's pricier 245T. Our gradient tests showed smooth colour transitions, while games and photos showed tremendous detail. The only drawback is the blacks, which aren't the deepest in the group. This monitor may seem pricy, but it is far superior to Iiyama's E2403WS-B1. If you want a huge desktop and great image quality, the VX2435wm is ideal. It's a Best Buy. SPECIFICATIONS:
1,920x1,200 native resolution, VGA, composite video, S-video, HDMI, component video inputs, 3.5mm line-in audio input
