ViewSonic's VX1940w is the most expensive 19in screen in the group, but it has easily the best image quality of the four 19in displays. Its colours are the most natural, with no sign of any colour tints in our greyscale tests, and it displayed no banding in our colour and greyscale transition tests.
The 2ms grey-to-grey response time makes for smooth motion in both videos and games. Its biggest strength is its 1,680x1,050 resolution, which usually found only on 20in monitors. This means you have loads of space on your desktop, but you'll need a powerful graphics card to play games at this resolution. Image quality is generally very good, but colours are a little washed out and the backlight bleeds slightly at the bottom.
ViewSonic's VX1940w is an attractive display with good image quality, and its high resolution is a bonus. It seems expensive compared with the 20in widescreen models, however, which have the same high resolution but more space in which to display it.
