Not only is HannsG's HW194D the cheapest monitor here, it's also the only 19in model with a fully adjustable stand. As well as swivelling and tilting, it lifts through nearly 12cm and pivots 90°, making it easy to find an optimal viewing position.
It has a very bright 1,440x900 screen, but we noticed a few image quality weaknesses. Our gradient tests exhibited minor banding instead of smooth transitions between shades. More significant was the display's slight blue tinge. No matter how much we fiddled with the settings, we couldn't get rid of it. The unresponsive side-mounted buttons and unintuitive menu system also made tweaking the monitor's settings difficult.
HannsG's HW194D is an inexpensive monitor with fair image quality and a useful adjustable stand. Its image quality is comparable to that of the 19in Philips screen, but both monitors suffer in comparison with LG's L204WS, which is worth the extra few pounds for its 20in screen.
