LabsSATA hard disks
Hitachi's 500GB Deskstar sped through our small files tests, particularly in our write test. Its large file performance was just as good and its read speed of just under 82MB/s wasn't far behind the front-runners. Its speed of 66.39MB/s when writing large files was among the slowest here, though. The Deskstar has a low cost per gigabyte of 15p, but Hitachi's 750GB Deskstar is a better buy. SPECIFICATIONS:
