Western Digital's 320GB Caviar is the cheapest SATA disk in our group at only £52 including VAT. Unfortunately, it was consistently slow in all our file transfer tests. It was the slowest SATA disk in our large files tests, and the only disk not to exceed 7MB/s when writing small files. It may be cheap, but its poor performance means we can't recommend it.
