The Caterpillar has the same inverted layout as Xilence's X2. Unlike the X2, it uses a standard pair of fans to move air through the case instead of a large air duct.
Due to the unusual layout, the graphics card sits near the top with its fan pointing up. This should mean that heat rises up and away from the card, but any advantage is lost as there's little airflow in this part of the case. This wouldn't be a problem with a double-slot graphics card such as the GeForce 8800GTS, which expels air through the back of the case.
The fans have motherboard header plugs and are quiet even at full speed. Nexus has also lined the case with noise-absorbing foam. However, the drive bays have no dampening system to absorb vibrations.
The Caterpillar's design is fairly confusing, but it's quiet and worth considering if you can't stretch to Antec's P182.
