LabsDVD writers
LiteOn's Super AllWrite is the cheapest external desktop DVD writer in the group. Its software bundle includes Nero's Recode. The Super AllWrite was the third-fastest burner in our DVD-R test, burning discs at 10.24X, but it lagged behind the Samsung and LG drives when burning DVD+R discs. It was the fastest external drive in our CD-R test. The drive couldn't match the speeds of the Samsung and LG writers when burning double-layer DVDs. Both of these drives exceeded 7X speed, but the Super AllWrite couldn't manage 6X. It wasn't particularly fast at burning rewritable DVDs, either, with 5.16X for DVD-RWs and 6.53X for DVD+RWs, putting it behind the Freecom and Samsung drives. LiteOn's Super AllWrite may be attractive if you're on a very tight budget, but LG's GSA-E50L costs only a few pounds more and is much quicker at writing DVDs. SPECIFICATIONS:
