LG's GSA-E50N is one of the cheapest portable DVD writers in the group. Its white enclosure makes it look sleek. The GSA-E50N performed consistently well in all our tests. It was the fastest portable writer in both our two-layer DVD burn tests, where it was the only drive to exceed 3.5X, although it couldn't reach its claimed 6X speed. It came a close second to the Storage Depot drive in our rewritable DVD and DVD-R benchmarks. Although it was the slowest portable DVD writer in our DVD+R test, it wasn't far behind the others, with an overall 5X speed. Like its desktop counterpart, the GSA-E50L, the drive can password-protect discs with the included version of Nero. Files are still visible in Windows Explorer but can't be opened without a downloadable utility and your password. The password protection is a useful extra but, more importantly, the GSA-E50N is a fast and inexpensive portable DVD writer. It's our Best Buy portable DVD writer. SPECIFICATIONS:
