Billed as a 'companion' to the browser, the add-on opens a side panel into which users can drag and drop jpeg images and upload, share and print them easily. As well as the Kodak EasyShare Gallery, the add-in also supports the Flickr, Tabblo, Marela, 23, and Smugmug, with more online services set to follow.
Users can quickly add a new album, change services and add captions directly within the companion element to Firefox.

This first version of the software is not currently distributed under an open-source licence - something that is likely to change in the future.
'We plan on open sourcing the underlying framework and code we developed to build this add-on under the Mozilla Public Licence/GNU General Public Licence (GPL)/Lesser GPL,' said Mozilla. 'We still have some work to do in terms of licensing and code review before we do so, and we'll get to that now that we've shipped version 1.0. To be clear, some of the graphics, trademarks and API keys used to build the official Firefox Companion for Kodak EasyShare Gallery have been licensed from third-parties and will not be released as open source.'
