NEC WA2510 review

When it comes to everyday use, one thing the WA2510 gets absolutely right is its noise levels. The throttling of the internal cooling fans is smooth, and after boot-up it settles down to an acceptable level. With 92mm and 120mm fans in the front and rear of the chassis, there's enough airflow that it's rarely necessary for them to throttle up.

In terms of absolute power, the WA2510 isn't a gobsmacking addition to NEC's product range; you can achieve higher levels of raw processing power at a lower price by opting for consumer-level parts. But if you're one of the loyal following of AMD's Opteron series and need a good-value workstation with an easy CPU upgrade path, the reliability of workstation drivers and hardware, plus support for huge amounts of RAM, then the WA2510 is a solid option.
