Got a free version of Acronis True Image 7 from a PC Pro offer, a couple of years ago.

Then a few days ago, got an e-mail from Acronis asking whether I'd like to upgrade from TI 7 to TI 2010 for a reduced fee. Yes please! :)

So, thank you PC Pro for giving me that free copy all those years ago. Now I'm set for my Windows 7 backup strategy, when it comes out later this month.

Just bought this without doing enough research

as far as I can see so far there isn't tools to do directory sync at the file level - what I really want is a good backup tool that will backup files - but not into an archive file. That way I can access all my media files on my NAS as well as using it as backup for main PC - I don't want to have 2 copies of >500 gb of photos!

Acronis Nonstop Backup

I've used Acronis for years and this latest 2010 Version with Nonstop Backup looked a very positive improvement - IF IT WORKED BUT IT DOS'NT and a quick look on the Acronis Knowledge Base Forum is full of unhappy desperate users begging for Acronis to help. They don't and in the meantime I'm very uneasy about my system backups - my advice wait till they have it sussed.....

ATI 2010

I have been a True Image user since the original PC Pro offer. I never had any reason to seek support over this time until I recently upgraded to TI 2010 to run on a Win 7 x64 machine.

I got an eventual fix (Build 5055) by finding my way around the Acronis forum. It is clear that there are a lot of TI 2010 on Win 7 x64 issues (Build 6029, 6053) out there and Acronis are not responding to them.

Take a look at the forum and perhaps you may consider to place a caveat on this "A" list rating.

I will not be upgrading to the latest release until there is some positive feedback that these problems have been addressed.

Majer isues with 2010

The Acroris forum is filled with users who have major problems with 2010 and have had no support from the firm. Given that this duel problem has been increasing with every new release of True Image I am surprised PC Pros reviewers were unaware of the issues or that a warning revision to the rating hasn’t been added. The best that can be said is try the product, with a full image (if you have that ability there is probably no need to do this any way!)tom see it will work on your PC/s. It would also be worth looking at the forum for issues first as do not expect worthwhile support from Acroris even within the, now limited to, 3 month support period.

REMOVE FROM A-LIST

I agree with the above. I am another long term Acronis user whom has been shafted by Acronis.

There is no effective support for this 2010 product. It simply DOES NOT WORK WITH WINDOWS 7

It is irresponsible to keep recommmending this software. People (me) read and listen to your opinions.

known problem with 2010

nonstop backup dumps a full image in win/sys32 making the c drive unusable when full, in my case some 59gb. As you tested this software before recomendation what fix did you use, because nobody can get a response from acronis

Agree that this is not an A-List product

Aside from the techincal issues - the subscription-base online backup just doesn't work for example - there is *no* techincal support for non corporate users.
Nothing at all. No e-mail addresses, phone numbers. Just an un-manned "chat" feature on the website... "All agents are currently busy. Please stand by."

Restore is unreliable

I've tried Acronis simce version 9 and it is inherently unreliable. tibs frequently are flagged as corrupted when you come to restore them, despite the backup 'working' and validation passed.

This is especially the case with USB drives.

There have been hundreds of reports of this for years and Acronis have never addressed the problem, blaming it on cables, chipsets, drives etc.. when it is their product that is at fault.
The support is derisory at best and I have many clients who have lost all their data having relied on their Acronis backups.

PC PRO .. WAKE UP!

I haven't seen a single good report of this software from any end user. The forums are full of problems and bugs with it. And Acronis customer support is one of the worst I have come across in the industry. HOW can PC PRO keep this as their A-LIST number one. You are not doing yourselves or your readers any justice ! GET IT OFF!
