Lots of storage for less, and strong collaborative features.

While it offers synchronisation options, Humyo's fundamental focus is storage, to the point that the generous 10GB free option doesn't provide support for multiple computers at all bar the usual web-based uploads and downloads.

Pay £46 for 100GB, however, and you can use the desktop client to sync and back up your documents, bookmarks, music and video folders, or create your own folder pairs to sync across machines.

The interface is clean and easy to use, although not as slick or informative as Dropbox or Syncplicity. For instance, there are no icon overlays to tell you which files are synchronised or need to be, and no throttle to control how much bandwidth the client uses. With no Mac, Linux or mobile client support as yet, Humyo also isn't the best service for cross-platform use.

On the positive side, it's easy to share files and folders with others by using email invites, and the web application even has a friends list for doing so. For more comprehensive collaborative facilities the Business version offers Workspace, an enterprise-focused collaborative environment with search, messaging and contacts management facilities - features that may prove compelling for small- or medium-sized companies. For 100GB and up to four users you pay £99, while £199 buys 250GB of space for up to ten users.

For single business users and home users, however, Humyo is slightly let down by its interface, its lack of advanced features and a below average performance in our speed tests. It's a good value proposition, but not the best service on test.
