Among other notable changes is the ability to define a default script for use as a starting point when writing other scripts, custom tooltips that can be added to layout objects, and SMTP support, which allows FileMaker to send email messages directly without having to go through an email client. Various functions and script steps have also been added to support FileMaker's new capabilities and to improve handling of certain areas such as Unicode characters.

It all adds up to an incremental upgrade rather than a major re-think or change of direction, but that's not to say that it isn't worth buying. In fact, FileMaker Pro 10 introduces sound practical improvements and it manages to do so within a familiar framework. With something here for everyone and new features that are genuinely useful, this is one upgrade we can heartily recommend.
