Sounds like Open Office is what I need. Can't cope with the "pretty" of latest word - takes ages to find what I'm used to now and sometimes I've failed to find it completely!
I'm a writer, writing is what I do ... not messing about with pretty apps! I just want to be able to get on with my work and it sounds like I'll be able to with Open Office.
I'm glad it can open Word 2007 docx, some of my friends/colleagues use it. presumably it will be able to open Word 2010 IDC.
Thanks for this review, it's helped me make up my mind to change.
