iSilo

Verdict

Plain looks, but an otherwise competent offline reader with good smartphone compatibility.

iSilo has been around for what seems like forever, and at first glance appears to be something of the ugly sister in this company.

Appearances are often deceptive, however, and that's certainly the case here.

Under the admittedly plain skin lies a powerful beauty, and one which comes in various flavours: it's available in Windows Mobile, Symbian, Palm OS and even BlackBerry flavours.

While you can use it as a basic web document reader which keeps links and images intact, it also doubles up as an excellent eBook reader which can reformat content to make it some 60% smaller.

Pair it with the iSiloX desktop tool and you can create your own HTML content or extract web pages with full control over font styles, sizes, autoscrolling and bookmarks.
