Maximizer 5

Verdict

Maximizer 5 is now much better value and competes well with the likes of GoldMine and Act.

Review Date: 1 Nov 1998

Price when reviewed: (£175 inc VAT)

Overall Rating
5 stars out of 6

You can use FTP to load the finished site to your own Web space if you have it, or let the Wizard put it onto Maximizer 5's own BusinessNet site. As an all-in-one solution, the latter makes more sense. The MarketBuilder Wizard seamlessly uploads your pages to the BusinessNet host server and your site is automatically promoted with the major search engines. Perhaps the most important aspect is that the entire solution is free.

Maximizer 5 is a competent and well-specified sales-orientated contact manager. Despite the initial clutter, the power user shouldn't run out of user-definable fields and macros for a while. In most respects Maximizer 97 (reviewed issue 45, p191) didn't offer market-leading features or good value, but Maximizer 5 is a much better buy.

Now that MultiActive has included a campaign planner, the company library tool and an enhanced email centre, things are looking far better. If you're thinking of trying the Internet as a sales tool, the built-in integrated e-commerce features make Maximizer 5 unbeatable at the price.
