Microsoft Windows Live OneCare 2

Verdict

Mediocre core features coupled with a raft of useless trinkets make OneCare less than spectacular value for money.

Review Date: 15 Feb 2008

Price when reviewed: inc VAT per year, 3 PC license

Overall Rating
2 stars out of 6

This is a very good idea if you're clinically insane; if you're not, then pop over to www.carbonite.com and get unlimited online backup - which allows you to store all types of files, not just photos - for around two-thirds of that.

With the possible exception of the anti-virus, none of OneCare's features are anywhere near the quality you could get with an equivalent standalone package. If you really insist on buying software that offers a lot of mediocrity, go ahead and buy OneCare. Otherwise, give it a wide berth.
