But Yahoo feels cumbersome when compared to the sleek efficiency of Copernic Desktop Search 2 (CDS2). It's had a full interface redesign, with search simplicity being the order of the day. That's never at the expense of direct access to your results, though, with per-category result filtering (for example, Word documents) and commands tailored to the document type (such as Print for emails). The main tabbed interface provides at-a-glance indications of search results, and even the "all results" option doesn't clutter the screen, with a collapsible preview window providing access to more tools. Search improvements such as smart query spelling correction, additional Boolean operators and true wildcard support all make for a rewarding experience. Copernic also managed the lowest system resource usage on our test system, from initial indexing and CPU usage through to disk space. Quick, powerful and efficient mean CDS2 is our desktop search client of choice.
