Ease of Use

Document properties, such as Author, Title and Status, can be inserted into documents using the QuickParts option on the Insert tab and, handily, typing in these QuickParts also sets the metadata for the document. Saving the file to a SharePoint document library automatically publishes the metadata as well and, if the document library defines extra metadata fields, those fields are available in the document too - either through QuickParts or on the Document Properties pane, which can be shown at the top of the window under the Ribbon.
All in all, it's a great improvement to an already market-leading product. Getting used to the new UI doesn't take long once you get started and, most important of all, it really is easy to make good-looking documents.
