Boston Fenway AVX21608T

Verdict

The Fenway is a fine platform for XenServer's virtualisation software, with plenty of processing power and memory.

Templates make adding new VMs easy, since you can convert an existing VM. We tested this with a Server 2003 R2 VM, where the cloning process took about 15 minutes. If you like the Fenway and want more, you can use XenServer to create pools combining up to 16 physical servers. VMs aren't restricted to a physical server, as all resources are shared and dynamically allocated as required. The XenMotion tool also allows VMs to be migrated across different servers in a pool.

This Citrix XenServer-based solution delivers a very competitive package. Although the price is high, you get a lot of processing power and enough memory to handle plenty of virtual machines.
