As Intel is behind the scenes, the SI1110R-1 naturally supports its active management technology (AMT). This is an agent-less solution that stores inventory data in local NVRAM, allowing asset information to be gathered irrespective of the state of the system. AMT also provides access for controlling power, so you can turn the server on and off remotely. Unfortunately, you need third-party software to take advantage of AMT, as ESMPRO doesn't support it.

When compared to HP and Dell, the NEC comes up wanting in the remote management department. However, as a simple, low-profile front-end application server, the SI1110R-1 provides a solid foundation at a reasonable price.
