Viglen HX220Ui

Verdict

Some unusual expansion capabilities, a good specification for the price and full remote management.

Overall Rating
5 stars out of 6

The KVM web interface is well designed and provides a wealth of data about all motherboard sensors. These values can be linked up to email alerts. Virtual boot devices are supported and you also get full server remote control tools. For general remote and local server monitoring, you can use the bundled SuperO Doctor III utility. Basic remote-control facilities are also provided, so you can access the server from another system, gracefully shut down the OS and control power.

Remote management features aren't as sophisticated as those offered by HP and Dell, and Supermicro needs to support small form factor hard disks if it wants to be really green. Nevertheless, the HX220Ui offers a splendid hardware package for the price.
