Verdict

Another top-quality printer from Lexmark. Beyond a simple speed increase there appears to be little improvement in quality over the 7200; it is, however, considerably cheaper.

Whether or not the output from 5700 is better than the 7200 is difficult to say with certainty, but the quality is still up there with the best of the competition. It's faster too, but when it comes to the crunch the low price of the 5700 will influence most people's buying decision. At £195, it undercuts most of HP's recent offerings and is considerably cheaper than Lexmark's own 7000 and 7200 printers. The 5700 deservedly takes its place in the A List.
