SMC WSKP100 UK Wi-Fi Phone for Skype

Verdict

Review Date: 10 Nov 2006

Price when reviewed: (£146 inc VAT)

Overall Rating
4 stars out of 6

SMC's Wi-Fi Skype phone shares the same hardware as Edge-Core's WM4201, but SMC has partnered with The Cloud (www.thecloud.net) to enable its version to be used at over 7,500 UK hotspots with roaming agreements. While neither this nor the Edge-Core phone will work at any hotspot that needs browser authentication, connecting to The Cloud hotspots is as simple as registering your phone's serial number and MAC address via a PC. At £7 per month for unlimited access at any The Cloud hotspot, it's good value for money, and the best choice yet if you're after a Wi-Fi Skype phone.
