A table of the digital images taken with the pocket digital cameras

The DC C50 boasts a 5-megapixel CCD and 3x optical zoom. Slightly smaller than HP's R707, it uses the same battery for plenty of shots between charges. It's unique here in offering full manual control as well as aperture and shutter priority, plus manual white balance.

However, indoor quality was disappointing. The overpowered flash tended to make people's skin look plastic and, without flash, images were overexposed and colours inaccurate. Outdoors, with good light, the DC C50 proved itself to be capable of great quality, although poor dynamic range meant skies were often blown out.

The final nails in the DC C50's coffin were the slow auto focus, which meant missed shots, and a high price compared with others on test.
