There are several consumer-level systems on the market that can do much of what Sonos does - in particular Logitech's Squeezebox Duet. And it wouldn't take much for Apple to slightly reconfigure some of its existing products to produce a very compelling alternative. But nothing currently comes close to this system's satisfyingly engineered precision.

But while this bundle saves you 20% on buying the individual components, bear in mind that the lack of audio outputs on a ZP120 means it can't be easily integrated into an existing audio setup. We'd rather see another bundle that offering two ZP90s and a ZoneBridge for slightly less. Alternatively, ZP120s can be bought separately for £297 (exc VAT), a ZP90 for £212, or a CR100 for £237 (all exc VAT).

While the price has come down slightly (the original equivalent bundle was £637 exc VAT), Sonos is still an expensive investment, and can't quite match the Squeezebox Duet on price alone. But, given the quality of the engineering, the ease of use and the expandability, it's not difficult to recommend it, especially if you're starting a multiroom system from scratch.
