Redfly Mobile Companion C8

Verdict

A small, reasonably usable extension for your smartphone, but it's just too expensive to be viable.

If you want video playback, you'll be disappointed too. We tried playing back a number of files using Windows Media Player and none displayed. There's no audio capability either - no speakers or headphone socket - so you've no hope of using the Redfly as a mobile entertainment device either.

All told, we're pretty underwhelmed by the Redfly. If it had worked properly we might have given it a grudging "okay if you really want one" review - after all, its battery life is very impressive - but as it stands there's no choice but to stick the boot in.

It's too expensive, short on features and, as far as we can work out, lacks a ready market. Do yourself a favour - if you need a small laptop buy an MSI Wind or a stowable Bluetooth keyboard instead.
