Microtek ScanMaker E6

Verdict

Easy to install and use, with an accurate scanning mechanism and a sharp image, even using software interpolation. It's good value, too.

Review Date: 1 Jun 1997

Price when reviewed: (£351 inc VAT)

Overall Rating
4 stars out of 6

The basic ScanMaker E6 is designed for scanning documents one page at a time. However, if you need to scan a lot of documents you can buy an automatic document feeder (ADF) as an optional extra; a heavy-duty business ADF that can cope with up to 50 pages costs £475. In addition, there's a back-lighting attachment which enables you to scan transparencies (£299).

With its image performance and quality software bundle, the ScanMaker E6 has all you need for photo or document scanning. Its RRP is lower than the similar-resolution Vista S12LE's street price. If you need high-resolution scans and don't mind the Microtek's average speed, it's good value.
