Kodak DC240 Zoom review

Verdict

Despite containing a 1.3 million pixel CCD and including a 3x optical zoom at a relatively low price, the amount of JPEG compression leads to disappointing end results.

Two months ago the Canon PowerShot Pro 70 proved that digital cameras could produce fantastic images, and we hoped that this month it would be Kodak's turn to show what it could do for £500. The DC240 had the potential to be an excellent camera, but the high level of compression, along with the fact that it can't be turned off, means that in terms of pure picture quality it can't quite compete with the best cameras available. If you can't stretch your budget to the PowerShot Pro 70, the Olympus C900-Zoom makes for a better alternative.
