HP DeskJet 890C review

The 890C is a speed demon, too. Although I got nowhere near the claimed nine pages per minute for text, I managed to get 5.8ppm on simple text in econofast mode, dropping to 3.3 in best quality mode. The full-page colour photo page was delivered in an impressive 8.5 minutes.

It's clear that the small dot size can work well; the 890C achieves better-than-average business graphics on plain paper and phenomenal photo-quality images on special paper. However, text and photographic images on plain paper don't show the same gains, and the 890C is just slightly more expensive than Lexmark's 7000, which is currently available for around £270 on the street.
