Iiyama ProLite E1902S-B review

Offers nothing to distinguish it from its similarly priced rivals.

While Iiyama's 22in offering boasts excellent image quality, this 19in TFT is average in all respects. It's a plain-looking design, with Iiyama's usual dark casing and basic tilt-only stand, although it does feature a pair of reasonably loud 1W speakers as a bonus.

The control buttons are in the middle on the front, but could do with more easily readable labels. And after trying the various colour presets in the OSD, we eventually created our own mix, as none of them was satisfactory. We had to lower the blue and green levels a little to warm up the image, and once done we were reasonably pleased with the results.

Gradient tests were passed without any issues, and the white level was quite impressive. But the uniformity of the backlight was disappointing and, given the 1,000:1 contrast ratio, we expected deeper blacks. We also noted that the greyscale colour-tracking tests looked a little dark, almost green, which left it with slightly unnatural colours in our video and photo tests. However, the 2ms response time meant it had no issues at all handling scenes of fast motion.

The OSD features a few extras such as an economy mode, and there's a clip on the rear of the stand to hold cables. All in all, the Iiyama ProLite E1902S-B isn't a bad monitor, there just isn't enough on offer to justify the relatively high price of £139. The Belinea and BenQ both offer adjustable stands and superior image quality, so we simply can't recommend the Iiyama this month.
