RIM BlackBerry Curve 8300

Overall Rating
4 stars out of 6

Hot on the heels of the BlackBerry 8800 (see issue 153, p58), the Curve is RIM's consumer version of its latest design. Along with the curves, the 8300 has gained a 2-megapixel camera, although it struggles when faced with anything less than perfect lighting. It's also lost the GPS receiver of the 8800, although the mapping software has been retained. All the important features are present - RIM's legendary push-email service is available, and the Curve is also compatible with BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Exchange, Lotus Domino and Novell GroupWise. Wireless options are limited, though - only GPRS and EDGE are supported. However, the Curve is a good-looking alternative to the bulkier 8800.
