Ricoh Aficio GX 3000 review

The Ricoh GX 3000 has its problems. Even at its best, it isn't as good as an office laser in terms of quality, and its colour output is even worse. We also struggled to get it up to the speeds claimed by Ricoh, and its final test results show it will only be as fast in everyday use as a decent inkjet. In fact, it's very similar to inkjets we saw several years ago, and we can only hope this technology undergoes the same rapid improvement.

It's undeniably cheaper to run than an inkjet, particularly for colour output, and we appreciate the duplexer as well as, of course, the bargain-basement price. It might be expensive compared to most inkjets, but if all you need is a machine to print colour proofs and monochrome external documents the Ricoh is an interesting new technology that's undoubtedly easy on the pocket, if not on the eye.
